Greenham Lock Marina
Small and privately owned, Greenham Lock Marina is located just below Greenham Lock (No. 86) on the Kennet & Avon Canal in Newbury; a small town nestled in the heart of West Berkshire. Set in a peaceful and secluded location Greenham Lock Marina offers an ideal base from which to explore the Kennet & Avon Canal and River Thames.
The marina offers safe and secure permanent leisure and visitor moorings, within easy walking distance of Newbury town centre, several supermarkets and the train station. Newbury is served by a regular train service, providing excellent links to other parts of the country. By car we are a few miles from junction 13 of the M4 and close to the A34. Ample parking is provided in our own secure, gated, car park.
The Kennet and Avon Canal is a waterway with an overall length of 87 miles, made up of two lengths of navigable river linked by a canal. From Bristol to Bath the waterway follows the natural course of the River Avon before the canal links it to the River Kennet at Newbury, and from there to Reading on the River Thames. In all, the waterway incorporates 105 locks.
By boat you access the marina below lock 86, turning in to a small private section of the River Kennet which leads into the marina itself, thus there is no passing traffic and additionally, whilst moored in the marina you do not require a Canal & River Trust Licence.
Please note: There is no access for widebeam craft at this marina.
